Tony Fletcher, author of Remarks Remade: The Story of R.E.M., delivered a keynote address looking at R.E.M. and Athens from a physical (UK, NYC, Woodstock) and critical distance.
Two panels rounded out the programme: the 1st: R.E.M.'s Musical & Artistic Roots in Athens, and the panelists were: Paul Butchart, Curtis Crowe, Tony Fletcher, John Keane, Kathleen O'Brien Layson, Maureen McLaughlin, Dan Wall, Frank White, with Mark Mobley moderating.
The second panel: R.E.M.'s Social, Civic, Political, Preservation & Economic Impact on Athens, with Jared Bailey, Tim Johnson, Gwen O'Looney, Dexter Weaver, Smith Wilson & Milton Leathers moderating.
Archival footage of R.E.M.'s Political & Social Involvement (supplied by R.E.M.) was shown before closing by Blair Dorminey.
